This course provides an introductory understanding of the maritime infrastructure and operations.

IAMS 0020: Security Design

This course provides the structure for security design of physical and logical systems.

IAMS 0030: Monitoring and Compliance

This course provides the description of security postures are monitored and managed.

PCMS 0090: Capstone Course

Mandatory course. Aspects of governance, business management /operations, cyber, and environmental themes are consolidated conceptually in terms of preparing candidates for their practical application in the maritime security domain.


Elective Courses

You must complete at least four electives.

PCMS 0010: Environmental Management and Protection of Sensitive Maritime Areas

This course provides an overview of how environmental factors and government decisions regarding related environmental management systems and the protection of sensitive marine ecosystems can affect maritime security.

PCMS 0020: Climate Change and the Provision of Security

This course provides an overview of how global aspects of climate change can affect maritime operations and how maritime security-related issues relate to climate change challenges with reference to the UN Conference on Climate Change - COP 27.

PCMS 0030: Cyber Security Issues in the Maritime Domain

This course provides an overview of cybersecurity related issues, challenges, and practices within the maritime space.

PCMS 0040: The Use of the Oceans in Conflict: Domestic Case Studies

This course provides through case study examples, an overview of an approach in identifying core issues, factors or considerations of domestic issues associated with competition, conflict, and other forms of disputes in domestic Canadian controlled waters.     

PCMS 0050: The Use of the Oceans in Conflict: International Case Studies

This course provides through case study examples, an overview of an approach to identifying core issues, factors or considerations associated with maritime security internationally or outside Canadian controlled waters.

PCMS 0060: The Impact of Maritime Trade on the World Economy

This course provides an overview of the importance of maritime activities and the maritime industry to the world economy, through the lens of maritime security.

PCMS 0070: Maritime Security and Supply Chain Considerations

This course provides an overview of supply chain issues, concerns or vulnerabilities resulting from the unique operating environment of ports and vessels.

PCMS 0080: Crime and Enforcement in the Maritime Domain

This course provides an overview of the challenges in enforcement and building compliance with regulations from an operational and law enforcement perspective in managing an international port.
